The Purpose of Mindfulness

The video below was recorded during a recent session of the class I teach at College of Marin. It begins with a discussion of why we turn to mindfulness and how the practice helps us in our daily lives. It then goes on to discuss different styles of mindfulness and their respective benefits. The presentation concludes with a guided meditation focused on improving awareness of the muscles around the jaws (chosen because the bodily process being presented this term is digestion) and gaining skill in relaxing them.
