SILENT QUAKER RETREAT
September 25-27, 2026
This retreat will be held in silence in the manner of Friends. Though Mandy and I are "leading" the retreat, the silence will be the true teacher. Our role will be to guide introductions, encourage outer and inner silence, and bring the weekend to a close. Click here for more info.
MINDFUL BIOLOGY MINI-RETREATS
After a year's hiatus, I've scheduled two mini-retreats for the fall terms at College of Marin. Registration is not yet open; I'll post the reg link here when it's available. (I'll also send out an email announcement, so let me know if you want to be on the mailing list.)
↓ October 3, 2026 — Mindful Breath
Connect more deeply with your body and the tapestry of life! Taught by a physician, this class explores mindfulness of body and breath using a biology-rich approach. You’ll plunge into breathing via contemplative practices informed by basic yet profound concepts from anatomy, physiology and ecology. You’ll experience your body's deep vitality during meditations inspired by images of human biology and the living earth. This celebration of living will be supported by safe, welcoming group discussions. Arrive with curiosity and leave feeling deeply connected with your body, breath and world!
This mini-retreat will meet from 10 am - 3 pm in the lovely new Center for Student Success on the College of Marin Kentfield Campus, on the ground floor, with views of redwoods and access to a nice outdoor patio.
↓ December 5, 2026 — Mindful Muscles & Bones
Uncover the power of your living, moving body! Taught by a physician, this class explores muscle and bone through biology-informed mindfulness. You’ll gain insight into your musculoskeletal system via easily grasped insights from anatomy, cell biology and evolution. Simple movement and contemplative practices will help you feel your body’s muscular and skeletal vigor. This celebration of living will be supported by safe, welcoming group discussions. Whatever your age, health, or limitations, you’ll connect with profound bodily energies and aliveness. Bring your body to this class and return home feeling more awed, impressed and supported by it.
This mini-retreat will meet from 10 am - 3 pm in the lovely new Center for Student Success on the College of Marin Kentfield Campus, on the ground floor, with views of redwoods and access to a nice outdoor patio.
